Chatham Club

This parcel of land on the south side of Chicago presented the opportunity to add the first significant new construction in many years to this well-established community. The Chatham neighborhood, to the north and east, consists primarily of one and a half story bungalows, a common and beloved housing type in Chicago. Market surveys, however, indicated a desire for two and a half story homes with more bedrooms on the second floor.

Our solution was to provide a generous single story, living space with a volume ceiling at the front of each home that echoed the architectural character of existing homes in the area. Twelve distinct plans were created to offer a wide range of home sizes containing from two to five bedrooms. Optional finished basements, a variety of formal and informal family spaces, and detached two car garages were some of the many options offered to permit buyers’ a high degree of customization. The exteriors were differentiated with combinations of brick and stucco and various recessed entries that recall typical Chicago bungalow features.
