We would like to take one more opportunity to thank and congratulate all of the participants, supporters, and sponsors of our 2014 CANstruction team! Partnering with Eriksson Engineering Associates, our team designed, shopped for, and constructed our “baCANa split” out of nearly 4,000 cans of macaroni & beef, chili with beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and peas. The 1.8 ton sculpture took about four hours to construct, and only about 45 minutes to deCANstruct!
All together, the Canstruction Chicago 2014 event brought in a record-breaking 111,442 pounds of food to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository. According to a press release from Canstruction Chicago, the donation will “help respond to the continuing need as more than 812,000 men, women, and children in Cook County turn to the Food Depository’s network annually.”
