FitzGerald and Eriksson Engineering Associates Unveil “baCANa split” at 2014 Chicago CANstruction

On Wednesday, teammates from FitzGerald Associates Architects and Eriksson Engineering Associates unveiled their CANstruction sculpture, entitled “baCANa split,” at the 2014 Chicago CANstruction Design Build Competition, now on display in the ground floor lobbies of the Merchandise Mart, through September 8th.

Built from nearly 4,000 cans of macaroni & beef, chili with beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and peas, the sculpture took approximately four hours to construct, and is estimated to weigh about 1.8 tons!

While the cans have been purchased and the sculpture is now on display, the team is still collecting donations that will be passed along to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. If you would like to donate, please visit the team’s page on YouCaring.com
