Representatives from Metra, Chicago’s 47th Ward, the Illinois House of Representatives, and the Federal Transit Administration were on hand last week for the groundbreaking ceremony of the $18.3 Million Ravenswood Station on Metra’s Union Pacific North Line.
The station is part of a larger $215 Million effort by Metra and Walsh Construction to rehabilitate 22 UP North Bridges on the city’s north side. Once completed, the station will offer longer, covered platforms and warming shelters on both sides, improved lighting, space for a ticket office and a retail vendor, ramps, stairs, and new landscaping. The west side of the station is scheduled to be completed November 2013, with the east side following in late 2015.
