FitzGerald Associates Architects Retained for Interior Renovation of Restaurant & New Pedestrian Shelter in Chicago’s Loop

FitzGerald Associates Architects has been retained by Means Knaus Partners, property manager for 300 South Riverside Plaza, to provide architectural services for the renovation and rearrangement of interior spaces in the building’s ground-floor restaurant, the Alonti Catering Café, to create a more spacious seating area for the guests and, most importantly, to improve sightlines through the lobby, the restaurant, the river-side patio and the bustling Loop beyond. The plan calls for the demolition of existing offices, storage space and restrooms—along with the relocation of corresponding utilities—and the construction of an expanded seating area, in addition to new top-of-the-line restrooms.
In addition to the restaurant renovations, FitzGerald has designed a new “smokers’ pavilion” enclosure for the complex, to provide protection from the elements in a previously uncovered area. Both projects are expected to be completed this fall.
