Changes to Chicago Building Permitting Process

As of September 1st, 2011 in order to streamline the permit process, the City of Chicago has mandated that all building permit applications use ‘Certified Plan Corrections’ to address plan review corrections unless the project meets the criteria for Open Plan Review.
At FitzGerald, we are experts at guiding projects through this process. In addition to our knowledge of Certified Plan Corrections, we have saved some clients weeks of permitting time by utilizing the Department of Buildings’ Self-Certification Program on qualifying projects. In many cases, the permitting process for small-scale interior alterations to commercial spaces and small multi-family buildings can be reduced to mere days.
