Chicago, Ill. – FitzGerald Associates Architects has submitted a design for an iconic 44-story luxury residential tower to be located in the Burj Dubai District in the United Arab Emirates. The project, designed for an RFP issued by DAMAC Properties Company LLC of Dubai, would be comprised of one, two and three bedroom apartments in a tower with podium levels containing retail and parking uses. The building’s unique façade suggests a double helix made up of terraces and balconies that would wrap the building in shade and offer unique outdoor spaces.
“The allusion to DNA could be related to a set of instructions for the creation of life and, therefore, one of the most elemental symbols in nature,” said Steven McFadden, Associate Principal. “An apt metaphor for the creation of life in the region of the world where all life was originally created.”
The building amenities would include balconies, terraces, sky lobbies, swimming pool, health club, jogging track, kids’ zone and game room as well as other amenities expected for a luxury apartment building.
