The owner purchased this 123 room former Holiday Inn with the intention of upgrading the facility and converting it to the more upscale Crowne Plaza flag. While structurally sound, the 1960’s poured concrete structure required a complete interior and exterior renovation. Our economical response is reductive rather than additive, stripping away insensitive previous alternations to reveal and update the building’s original mid-century modern spirit. Interiors are what our client calls “comfortable contemporary"; modern but not edgy. A new concrete, timber and glass pavilion encloses the existing outdoor pool. New energy efficient windows and lighting, solar shading, and the use of renewable and recyclable materials reflect our commitment to sustainability.
