1800 North St. Louis Street, Chicago
100 Units
Client: LR Development

Located in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, this 100-unit project presented the team with a unique challenge - to design units on two parcels on either side of a city public street raised atop an abandoned railroad viaduct. The unique site configuration led the project team to internalize the site about two large landscaped car-courts.

The face brick clad structures are comprised of three- and six-unit buildings that recall the Spanish revival architecture of the historic neighborhood in terms of color, scale, and detail. Each building is composed of a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. The project represents the furthest western boundaries of the ongoing revitalization of Chicago's neighborhoods. This tax-credit-funded project was completed in 2002.
