FitzGerald Associates Architects Announces Three Associate Principals
Chicago, Ill. (June 29, 2007) - FitzGerald Associates Architects is proud to name James Broughton, 48, of Chicago, Ron De La Cruz, 35, of Chicago, and Randy Deutsch, 45, of Winnetka, to the position of Associate Principal. Broughton and Deutsch previously held positions as Senior Designers, while De La Cruz acted as a Senior Architect. Their job responsibilities will now be expanded to emphasize increased focus on business management, business development, and client relationship management.

James Broughton, AIA joined FitzGerald Associates Architects in 2003 with extensive experience in corporate office design, commercial interiors, religious design, and residential work. He has been responsible for a diverse range of projects; from intricately detailed 1,000 square foot chapels to the master planning and design of corporate office facilities as large as 500,000 square feet. Broughton’s work reflects extensive international experience from overseas projects, personal and educational travel, and his membership on the AIA Committee on Design. As Senior Designer, Broughton has been responsible for numerous projects such as 2100, a mixed-use 27 story condominium tower and four story timber loft conversion in Chicago’s South Loop and the Winthrop Club, a mixed-use 15 story luxury condominium tower designed for LEED Silver Certification in Evanston, IL. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University in 1983 and has been a licensed architect in the state of Illinois since 1986.
Ron De La Cruz joined FitzGerald Associates Architects in 2000. His residential design experience and strong technical knowledge has proven to be a valuable asset as he helps develop numerous multi-residential projects. He has contributed to several of the firm’s major projects, including Parkside of Old Town, Park Boulevard, 2100, Motor Row, University Village, Bridgeport Station, Bradley Place, and 1819 S. Michigan. De La Cruz received his Bachelor of Architecture in Structures in 1997 from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and earned a certificate in construction management from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Randy Deutsch AIA, LEED brings over 20 years professional experience to his role as Senior Designer and Associate Principal for FitzGerald Associates Architects. Since joining FitzGerald in 2005, Randy has been involved in several larger-scaled mixed-use projects including Wilson Yard, a 250,000 square foot mixed-use development; Carroll Place, a 19 story condominium tower and neighboring 1890 Maple apartments with 40,000 square feet of retail space in Evanston, IL; River Pointe Condominiums in Dubuque, Iowa as well as many housing and mixed-use developments. In addition to his professional responsibilities, Randy teaches design studio and building sciences part-time in the Graduate Architecture School at University of Illinois Chicago since 2001. He graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 1983 and North Carolina State University School of Design with a Masters in Architecture in 1985.
